I do think the events in the story could still happen today. With Louis's family situation I belive it could very well happen due to the number of divorces today. Breaking Babe Ruth's reacord however is something different. It could be done but would take alot of work.
I greatly believe everything except for him boecoming batboy could happen. The number of divorces today could definitely happen. If I had and stepmother and stepbrother, I would be unhappy too. I also don't think anyone will break the single season home run record.

Yes because there many parents are still getting divorces in this time period and it will still happen in the future. If I had a step family member i would be very upset but i would still get a chance to know them.
I don't think that stuff like that would happen very often today, just think about it, not many kids would just walk into a locker room and have someone say to you,"Would you like to be the Yankees batboy?" But I do think that it is possible for a kid to like baseball, and have a mean stepbrother.

I think that its possible for that to happen,because moms and dads can get devorces and a person can get a chance to meet some baseball stars.Many of the deatails are possible just not all of them.
well some elements cancel it out. these include the racism mentioned in a couple of places. aswell as a pile of 1940s baseball cards being worth 60 dollars. it would cost more today.and a local policeman deciding what can or cant happen himself. but this probably had the best writing of all 10 books. but i havent read owen jester yet. so we we will see.
