Walls Within Walls

The Smithfork children didn't feel like they belonged anywhere.  They didn't like their fancy apartment, nanny and new school.  They didn't feel that they belonged back in their old neighborhood either.  Give some examples from the text.

The Fantastic Secret of Owen Jester

Owen was a very determined boy!  What are some examples of that determination?

Everything For A Dog

Bone had some very disappointing relationships with people.  Which human character disappointed you the most?

Lucky, Maris, Mantle and my Best Summer Ever

This story took place in 1961.  Do you think that it could still happen today?  Give some examples from the story to support your answer.

Love, Aubrey

I think that Aubrey was a very independent girl.  Do you agree?  Give some details from the story to support your answer.

Wildfire Run

It is interesting to me that Luke's life as the president's son was so different from the other kid's.  He had all of those adults taking care of him, yet he didn't have the opportunity to do things with friends.  What was most surprising to you in this story?  Would you want to be the president's child?  Give some examples from the book to support your answer.

The Familiars

Aldwyn really showed special powers right from the beginning of the story.  He was able to trick people and animals in many ways.  Do you agree?  Give some examples from the story to support your answer.
I wonder how the plot will progress in the next book of the series.

Out of My Mind

I'm glad that students with disabilities who attend Walnut Creek are in regular classrooms right from the start.  I wonder if the others would have wanted Melody on the team if they were more used to having her around.  How do you think that the story would be different.

Because of Mr. Terupt

The kids loved Mr. Terupt and he did inspire them in a way that other teachers couldn't.  As a teacher myself I think that he should have established limits before the accident happened.  I also thought that it was a little wierd that kids were allowed to visit him while he was in a coma.

Storm Mountain

Ty was really impusive.  Cat let herself be drawn into some really dangerous situations because of him.  Why do you think she kept on following him?  Was it the dog, the ashes or her concern for her cousin that kept her going further onto the mountain?
